Change is in our DNA: How Organizational Development Influences Corporate Change

Facilitated by MeChelle Callen & Michelle Baker

Friday, July 19, 2019

When organizations embark on a massive change initiative, it is essential that Organizational/Talent Development teams have a seat at the table from the earliest stages to effectively engage employees throughout the process. In this session, participants will hear the story of how the Organizational Development team at FORUM Credit Union successfully navigated a multi-year core system upgrade, which impacted every facet of the business and changed the work of 99% of employees. This initiative resulted in the achievement of a significant industry award and set the stage for organizational change and learning initiatives in the future.

What will be discussed:

  • Challenges the organization AND the Organizational Development team were faced with when presented with this major project
  • The process in which the Organizational Development team identified those who would be affected by the system upgrade, how their roles and work would change, and how the team developed and implemented a learning strategy - a proven approach to change management, training and communication.
  • How identifying a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and early-adopter "Super Users" was key to staff enablement at the department/role level, leveraging 70;20:10 methodology
  • The end result - how executing this strategy was a key factor in a successful system launch
  • Post-launch performance support measures and just-in-time learning resources
  • Lessons learned upon post-launch reflection
