Did you know that member volunteers supply the people power of ATD chapters nationally?  Every local chapter is staffed and powered by volunteers. There are no employees within the ATD Central Indiana Chapter.

At ATD Central Indiana, we take great pride in recruiting, developing, and recognizing our volunteers who give selflessly of their resources including time, ideas, and skills.  Our success is totally dependent on the willingness of our members to engage in volunteer opportunities.  Here are the many ways that members pay it forward to the local chapter.

Leadership

Serving on the Board of Directors is a great opportunity to practice and develop your leadership capabilities. Members engage in strategic thinking, planning, collaboration, coordination, and communication to identify and influence strategic initiatives which ensure the Chapter’s health and longevity.

2025 Board Leadership Opportunities

Vice President, Membership

As the VP of Membership you will be the crucial link between the members of the Central Indiana Talent Development Community and our Chapter. This is a great opportunity to give back through building relationships with our current and prospective members.

Vice President, Marketing & Communications

The VP of Marketing & Communications is essential to keeping our members ‘in the know’ of all things ATD-CIC. In this role you will have an impact by crafting effective messaging that engages our members and allows them to experience the full value of ATD-CIC.

Director,

Communities of Practice

Communities of Practice (COPs) are essential for engaging our members all year long in specific areas of Talent Development that appeal to them. As the Director, you will coordinate the delivery of our COPs and participate in the ongoing development of our members.

Committees

When you join one of the various committees within the organization, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the implementation of the Chapter’s strategic initiatives.

  • Membership: Members contribute to the oversight of membership activities, value proposition, networking, and member appreciation.

  • Programming: Collaborate with committee members to bring value-centric programs featuring industry-relevant presenters to the talent development community of central Indiana.

  • Learning Summit: If event planning and execution excites you, join this team of chapter members who plan our biggest event of the year; a full day learning conference featuring keynote and breakout presentations.

  • Marketing and Communications: Bring our marketing strategy to life as a member of this committee using tools including social media, our website, targeted communications and our Chapter Newsletter.

  • Operations and Administration: Representing the cogs and wheels of the organization, these committee members keep the machine running as they perform key administrative tasks and ensure SOPs are outlined and followed.

  • Strategic Partnerships: ATD CIC engages strategic partners to provide financial sponsorships, in-kind donations, and to form alliances with other HR and Talent Development organizations.

Presenters and Facilitators

ATD Central Indiana aligns our programming to the three key Domains of Practice including 1) Building Personal Capability, 2) Developing Professional Capability, and 3) Impacting Organizational Capability.  Our members are both practitioners and consultants who have discovered best practices and impactful stories to share with our members. What have you and/or members of your organization recently accomplished that would benefit our membership? Come share your story in either our monthly program or community of practice formats.

Task-Based Activities

We recognize and honor that the lives of our members are busy and lesser commitments could be more appropriate.  Within any area of our chapter, there are always specific tasks that would benefit from the time and talent of a volunteer.  Examples include curating digital files in a central repository, writing copy  for communications, and reviewing/compiling data.   These tasks usually require just an hour or two a week.

Mentoring Relationships

ATD Central Indiana membership is a fantastic network where you are likely to find an opportunity to either serve as a mentor or be mentored.

Ready to Pay It Forward?

You may be thinking “I’m not sure how I could help.” That’s fair!  We will gladly arrange time for a conversation to explore best fit based on your interests, your skills, and your commitment level to the Chapter.  Will you take a minute now to reach out and begin this process of exploration?
